Maya Road Acrylic Butterfly Mini Album

Happy Memorial Day Weekend to Everyone ! Hope it's safe and fun filled .

For this project I used an acrylic butterfly mini album from Maya Road. You can get these fun little yummies from FlamingoScraps.com and right now there is a 30% off coupon code, kathleennmaya30, so you can receive a great discount on all your MR needs.

This is the front cover of the album. I used this colorful paper from my stash to cover it. An easy way to make your templates for covering the pages, is to trace a pattern on a plain white piece of printer paper. Scan the pattern. Trim your 12x12 paper by 3.5" to make it 8.5" so it will fit into your printer. If you use a patterned paper, be sure that you cut it so that the pattern runs the correct way, if need be. It's kind of like cutting fabric for sewing.Print your pattern onto the printed (or solid) paper you are using then all you have to do it cut.

Maya Road Tu Tu Tulle Trim in teal was used for the fluttery wings around the edges. A cut up Prima SIIC was used to create the antennas and paft of the body. Pink crystal circles on body were from my Webster's Pages stash.

For the first page I used Maya Road Trinket Pins with Hearts for the antenna and a MR burlap rose in teal. This page will be used for pics and it allows me room to journal as well.

MR Tu Tu Tulle in Lemon borders this wing, Prima SIIC with small cream flowers in bottom left corner and a Prima wood veneer butterfly with bling completes the look.
.
A strip of blue dotted washi tape runs across this dotted Swiss embossed yellow  paper used for the covering. Along with the tulle, I use Websters trim in gold.

Blue dotted washi tape covers this page, MR lowercase CB letters spell out "Kisses" and a wood veneer Prima butterfly with bling completes the look.

I covered this page with black CS, then cut out another page, and cut that one into half, and put it aside. I used a white gel roller for the "stitches". From a laser cut piece of paper with butterflies, I cut one out, backed it with white CS, then applied it to the half piece of black CS. I attached that, which created a nifty little pocket. I used Stickles Crystal to make the wings sparkle, and cut up some Prima SIIP for the dotted accents on the wings.

More MR Tu Tu Tulle, this time in Cinnamon, makes this page very frilly and almost like Valentine's Day. The white swirl embossed paper was highlighted with red scrappy markers with a light coat of Crystal Stickles. I used ribbon sliders with flat back pearls for the body, and MR Trinket Pins Pearls for the antennas. The clothespin is from my stash.

This is the back page , and it's covered with a great black flocked floral piece of CS. I love this paper and couldn't wait to use it.

That's the blog for today, and I hope you enjoyed it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZANNE !!!

Today is a very dear friend of mine's birthday, so I'd like to showcase a card I made for her birthday. Suzanne is one of those people who goes above and beyond for friends, family, community, and customers. I am not a card maker per say, but thought this would be a great one to make.

My dear friend Suzanne, owner of FlamingoScraps.com

The card is made from two sheets of swirl embossed Tim Hotz grungeboard that are fastened together with two TH grnge hinges. I sprayed the grunge BEFORE I hinged it with Maya Road Maya Mists Gold, let it dry, then used TH paints (can't tell you the exact color green b/c paint is on the name. lol) than I gently blotted onto the gold. I also did the inside.

The yellow trim in Maya Road Burlap Trim in lemon, the CB letters are Maya Road lowercase, painted with TH paints,as is the Maya Road Love Mini hearts, and the cherub is Fab Scraps. I also used TH paint on the cherub, with crystal Stickles on the wings.

I wish I could take credit for making the adorable flamingo on the aqua colored heart, but alas, it is actually an earring that I have had since 1981. LOL ! I KNEW I'd need it for something. Now I have one left for another project.

That's it this blog post. You can buy most of the items used here at FlamingoScraps.com and once you've paid a visit to the store, be sure to follow the blog and sign up for the newsletter as well for specials and sales. You'll be glad you did !!

A Flock of Birthday Cards & HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUZANNE !!!

We interrupt our normally scheduled program to give a big, pink, blinged out, feathery, HAPPY BIRTHDAY wish, to none other than our fearless Leader of The Flock, Suzanne !!!  .

Most people don't realize how busy the "behind the scenes" details  of running a successful, and busy store, a blog, and life in general can be. Not to mentionthe fact that she's active in her community, church, and is always there  for a friend or family member in need. Suzanne does all  these things, and more. I don't know how she finds the time, or energy, but I'm glad she does.

Since everyone loves surprises, our feathery little Flockinistas and I thought we'd throw a "blog party" of sorts by making cards for Suzanne with FABULOUS items from Flamingo Scraps and have a birthday card blog bash. Each person's card is featured below with a brief description and the products we used from Flamingo Scraps. So be sure to head on over to get your scrap happy card making goodies.(In celebration of her birthday, Suzanne is giving 43% OFF your order from 12:01 a.m. until midnight, Tuesday, May 21st. Discount excludes Prima Ink Sets and Julie Nutting preorder stamps. Use coupon code "suzanne" Bet she didn't think she'd be seeing this posted on a birthday blog ! )

Our first card is from Alicia.

Happy Birthday Suzanne!
For this card, I used a yellow card base, and sprayed one of the FabScraps chipboard shapes with some white Mr. Huey's to give it a base coat and let it dry, and then sprayed with the Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Bronzer. I cut some grass some random scrap paper trim that I had and sprayed it with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Mustard and Tropicana Teal to give it a little shine. I created the banner at the top out of scraps from the Heidi Swapp Serendipity line, and inked the edges around the sentiment and the entire card front with Prima Ink in "Old Road." After piecing together the card, I decided to add the Prima Light Pink flower accents to give it  more of a garden feel

Next is Cindy de Rosier, our Flamingo Four ( F4) coordinator.

Do you recognize the supplies I used? They're leftovers from the six
months I've been the Flamingo Four Coordinator! Here's a rundown:
November F-4: I used the Clam Bake Glimmer Mist to give some color and shine to the paper that holds the sentiment.
December F4: A little grey paint transformed the Maya Road chipboard frame into a resting place for the initial.
January F4: The only item still left from January was the sparkly Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue button. It adds fun shine to the
card.
February F4: The base of the card is Heidi Swapp "Vintage Chic" patterned paper. There's a subtle ledger print on the B-side,
which provided nice, straight guidelines for writing my message on the
inside.
March F4: The yellow and striped papers are Pink Paislee's "Indigo Bleu." I love the colors and subtle patterns.
April F4: The S is from Pink Paislee's 'Parisian Anthology' Corrugated Alphabet. This was only the second letter I've used from the package, so expect to see these pop up plenty of times in the future!

I had so much fun challenging myself to use up the leftovers! It was
tempting to skip a month (I'm looking at you, January button...) but
in the end I think the card shows a perfect marriage of Flamingo
Scraps products and my style.

This beautiful card is from Erin.

I appreciate Suzanne so much for all the generosity and love she not only gives to her local community, but also the scrap booking community, and I wanted to reflect some of the love that I have for her and Flamingo Scraps in my card... wanting it to be more than just a birthday card, but a celebration of her and Flamingo Scraps, as well.
I used the Teresa Collins Now and Then Collection for the majority of this card, supplementing the design with the Maya Road Instant Photo Frame Singleton Stamp. I folded an
inch-and-a-half strip of the Teresa Collins' paper and cut
IMG_1878.JPGtriangles from it to make the banner.
Suzanne, I really hope your birthday is full of wonderful things! You're loved and appreciated by all of us on the Flockinistas.
Never forget that!

Our next feathery Flockinista is Ramona.

Peeking out once again, it's me, Kathleen

I love TH products, so for the card I used two sheets of TH Grunge with swirls that I misted with the Maya Road "Maya Mist Metallic Gold", then used Tim Holtz paint "Peeled Paint" over that, and blotted gently. The Fab Scraps Die Cut Cherub is painted with  TH "Antique Linen" and "Mustard Seed".  Letters from the Maya Road Lisa Lowercase are painted with TH Paints. The yellow trim is Maya Road Burlap Trim "Lemon"

Last , but certainly not least, the infamous Tonya Gibbs.

Familes Bloom With Love LO with Hand Ebroidered Vine and Prima Flowers

This is a LO I made some time ago and although it was a bit time consuming, I really liked the results. I drew the vine in pencil, used my paper piercer to make the holes for the needle, then sewed away ! There are over 100 flowers and tiny brads on this.

Graphic45 Vintage Matchbox

Welcome back. and thanks for being patient while I try to reconstruct my blog ! This is my latest project for the Flamingo Scraps blog post. Enjoy !! I purchased the 8x8 and the 12x12 boxes and used the larger for my grandson's treasure box. Wasn't sure what I was going to use the smaller one for until I was going through my closet and came upon some of my grandmother's gloves, compacts and other personal items. Eureka! A vintage treasure box for me. The timing was perfect since I would have it for Mother's Day as a gift to me, from me. Yeah, I give myself gifts! I used the Heidi Swapp Colorshine , Primrose, to color the outside. The flowers are Prima Bronte Blooms- Bisque. My grandmother loved pinks and blues so I wanted to bring the browns into the project so it wouldn't look like something for a baby shower, and of course to make it look more vintage. The resin frame is from theWebsters Frame Variety Pack and I wanted a lighter color, so I painted it with TH paints, and put a Websters Resin Butterfly Cameo into it.These resins are a dream to work with! The bluebird on top is from my Websters stash, as is the Prima scalloped wood veneer on the top.I painted the wood with a combination of paints from theTim Holtz paints, which are available. If you like the wood veneers, ask Suzanne if they can be ordered and she'll do her best to help you out with that. Pearls and crystals are Prima from the stash, and Flamingo Scraps has PLENTY of bling and such to decorate your matchbox project. I covered a piece of chipboard with crinkled gold scrap paper I had and attached it to the top to cover the opening. You could use a piece of acetate if you wanted to create a window. For the trim, it HAD to be Maya Road Tu Tu Tulle - Vintage Beige.Love the selection of colors FS carries. This is the finished product with some of the items from Grandma. Her long black gloves with black seed pearls, perfumed powder compacts, gold rouge compact with white seed pearls, emerald and gold engagement ring in a tiny box, and white gloves with embroidered / crocheted accents. The harmonica is actually my grandfathers, as is the lighter, even though he wasn't a smoker, unless you count the occasional cigar. My only problem with this project ? I should have made it bigger ! Pretty sure I'm getting the 12x12 boxes again, because this one was SO much fun and I think I need a bigger box !! Remember, if you can't find something in the store, contact Suzanne for help. You never know until you ask !! That's it for this post fellow Flocklings. Hope you all have a great weekend, and a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of our moms out there in Scrappyland !
